Well finally the weather changed and we were able to play this match on a day that closely approximated to an English summers day, something of a rarity for June 2019!
With all the rain over the previous three/four weeks, the course was in excellent condition, lush fairways, playable rough (for those unfortunate enough to encounter it), and true greens which nevertheless hid their subtleties very well. We thank our hosts, and express our gratitude for the courtesy shown. Our last visit to Mickleover was in 2011, and having played in that fixture, I noticed the course has further matured and developed into a very good test of golf, one that everyone within the club can be justifiably proud of.
Sadly on this occasion Midland Region came in as runners-up, loosing 4-2 on the day, congratulations go to our Yorkshire opponents.
