In this summer of very uncertain weather we were very fortunate to enjoy the sort of English summer day that allowed The Leicestershire to show itself off to best advantage. Indeed the very idea that cold drinking water from a tap on the tenth tee was necessary, even a treat, for most competitors almost stretches the imagination after the rains and floods of August.
The photograph above could be a little ambiguous but it shows the East Midlands Captain, Paul Thornton, presenting the trophy to the Midlands Captain, Sue Le Beau, marking a convincing win in the annual match between the two Regions. The course was in excellent condition, the catering was good and the match was played with its customary good humour while remaining competitive. Congratulations to all.
On 16 September at Little Aston Golf Club.
There are still some places available in this event so if any member would like to participate, please contact the organisers without delay.
The meeting will be held at Copt Heath Golf Club on 25 September. Please make a note of this in your diaries.
Will be against the Welsh Region at Worcester Golf and Country Club on 7 October. We were trounced by the Welsh last year and it would not be a good idea to make a habit of this. The team has not yet been selected for the match so please confirm your availability on the web-site as soon as possible.
Please note: The Editor would like to emphasise a point made in a Newsletter earlier in the year that he welcomes items for the Newsletter that are likely to be of interest to members of the Region, and particularly to those who are not golfers.
It would appear that the Editor’s confidence was quite misplaced in the July edition in that only the Regional Captain recognised the photograph of Lee Trevino. Well done Sue!
