Rather belatedly a report on this match, delayed by preparation for the Autumn meeting, and by the absence of the regional scribe, currently on holiday in Sicily.
Played at Broadway on the edge of the Cotswolds, the clubhouse boasts what must be one of the best panoramic views in England. Overlooking the Vale of Evesham, albeit on a dull but rain free day, I envy Mandy Nurse the Club Secretary, who's office overlooks these views, pretty impressive.
As for the golf, the Welsh team lost two players overnight, and at such short notice were unable to recruit late replacements. In agreement with the Welsh Captain, Russell Thomas, it was decided to play 5 x 4 ball matches, the Welsh graciously conceded the final pairing, which at the end of the day resulted in an honourable halving, and sadly, the trophy staying in Wales.
So, its wait twelve months, visit Wales and hope to wrest the trophy on away turf. We can do it!
