Match report from Tom Duke, Vice-Captain again deputising for Ivan Taylor our Regional Captain who was unable to attend due to the on-going illness of his wife Marguerite; all present sent their best wishes to her for a speedy recovery.
Another point to note is that I did not play in the final game due to injury, my playing partner Bob Fletcher saved the day by inviting one of his friends who lived locally to take my place, thus enabling us to field a full team. My thanks go to both Bob and David Machin for their efforts, greatly appreciated!
Tom reports that to say that the venue was a tough one is an understatement, very good condition but very hilly and after Alwoodley (National Golf Day) on the Monday, it would be fair to say that some of us had obviously lost the will to live, hence the result!
The match as usual was played in the best of spirits and we were made to feel very welcome, all are looking forward to the match next year at Burton-on-Trent although we may need to re think the date as it coincides with the National fixture at Kings Lynn.
