Sadly, the Welsh Dragon roared and by comparison all that the Midland Team could do was purr but not before putting up some determined fight backs from seemingly lost causes. 

The result though was somewhat secondary, because we were very well looked after by both our hosts and the venue, The Monmouthshire Golf Club. The course was in splendid condition, greens were a little slow to some in the Midlands, but conditions were the same for everyone, but perhaps we took a little longer to settle. The clubhouse hospitality and quality of food served was first class, and as always, the camaraderie and atmosphere, especially during dinner, was splendid. 

One thing which has struck me this year, my first as Regional Manager, is that we struggle to compete with opposing Regions where they have a significant proportion of players of the younger working group prepared to play in these matches. Why is it that other Regions are typically 50-50 split, working - retired, yet Midland Region has never exceeded a 20-80 split, working - retired? It would be interesting to hear feedback from working managers on this topic.

The match program for 2016 is now complete and I would like to thank all who have participated over the season for their support. The 2107 fixtures are nearing completion and will be published shortly on the website.
