GCMA Midlands Region

February 2019 Newsletter

At a well-attended Annual General Meeting on Wednesday 13 February at the Molineux Stadium, Wolverhampton, Sue LeBeau was elected Captain of the Midland Region of the GCMA for 2019.

Sue is the first female Captain of the Region and she hopes that her election will encourage other female members and non-golfing members to become involved with the GCMA. Sue expects to attend all Regional functions during her year and looks forward to Captaining a few winning golf teams in the regional matches.

Whilst not being a golfer, Sue takes the view that both the inter-regional matches and professional meetings offer considerable opportunities, not only for networking, but also for the encouragement of Society comradeship which is a feature that seems to have faltered in recent years.

The positive business ethos adopted by the host football club was outlined as was its work with the young of the town.

Carolyn Wahlan from GolfHR brought members up to date on employment matters in her usual lively and entertaining style, whilst the representatives from XDigital Media demonstrated how network connected screens can be of value to Golf Clubs in their operations.

Steve Robinson of Rijo42 provided copious quantities of coffee as he invariably does, and Jamie Abbott, MD of Intelligentgolf, another firm supporter of the Region rounded off the day with a presentation on how computer systems, the web, mobile apps and the Cloud are likely to have an impact on Clubs and their members in the near future.

All in all, a very successful meeting and congratulations are due to both the participants and the organisers
